Meet The Team
Charlie Gustin
Charlie Gustin is an experienced and well-respected trial attorney with a proven track record of success in cases involving severe injuries and high-stakes insurance disputes. Charlie filed his first lawsuit as a teenager, drawing nationwide press coverage by representing himself in federal court against the local school board over Constitutional issues. The University of Texas awarded Charlie an academic scholarship, which allowed him to become the first in his family to attend college (graduating with a double-major).
At South Texas College of Law, Charlie received the Dean’s Scholar Award and was inducted into the Phi Delta Phi Legal Honors Society. Charlie excelled in the school’s advocacy program – being named “Top Speaker” (out of 82 peers) in the Leroy Jeffers Memorial Moot Court Tournament and later leading a varsity team to a championship at the National Health Law Moot Court Competition sponsored by the American College of Legal Medicine. Throughout law school, Charlie worked as head law clerk for renowned Houston trial attorney Rusty Hardin.
In his law practice, Charlie has earned a reputation as a tough, smart litigator who goes the extra mile to make his clients whole. Prior to opening Gustin Law Firm, Charlie gained valuable experience working in some of the top plaintiff’s personal injury and first-party insurance law firms in Texas. Although he has recovered tens of millions of dollars on behalf of hundreds of his clients, Charlie is especially proud of one case where he helped shut down a dangerous trampoline park, and another case where he helped a hurricane-displaced family build a new home even though their insurance company had initially denied the claim.
Charlie Gustin is licensed to practice in all Texas state and federal courts. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the American Association of Justice, the North American Brain Injury Society, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and serves on the Board of Directors of the Houston Trial Lawyers Association. Charlie has been named a Super Lawyers “Rising Star” for the last five (5) years running, a recognition given to less than 2.5% of the attorneys in Texas. In 2022, Charlie was honored to be selected as a Super Lawyer based on independent research and evaluations from his fellow Texas attorneys. Houstonia Magazine calls Charlie one of Houston’s “Top Lawyers.” Charlie played a key role in a case that was a “Top 50 Texas Verdict” (2016) and his advocacy on behalf of his clients has been reported by numerous media outlets, including The Dallas Morning News, The Austin American-Statesman, and Texas Lawyer.
